Rules and Race Team Requirements
Team
Rules
-
No wild, out-of-control barking (at least be working on it).
- All dogs must be on leash and under control.
- You must scoop after your dog poops.
- Will have a
casual "let's go" (not a formal heel, but stay within their owner's side)
OFF leash, while other dogs are running around or balls being thrown
- The
dog is not aggressive toward people or other dogs.
#1
Race Team Requirements
#1 Race Team Goals
- Race
consistently under 24 seconds
- Run
clean – clean, tight passes, etc.
#1 Race Team Requirements
- Must
be able to run the full course consistently with 2 lanes and distractions
- Must
be able to pass dogs and be passed by other dogs (hopefully any dog)
- Must
be able to do tight passes – no delays
- Must
be under control before and after the dog runs
Dogs that fill the above requirements will have priority
spots on the race team. If there are still spots available, the next best dogs
will have an opportunity to be a 5th or 6th dog. The
filler spots will be determined at practices. The extra spots will not get as
much race time as the primary dogs.
#2
Race Team Requirements
-
A team that races semi-competitively
-
Beginner
and other dogs that want to experience racing without the pressure of a
highly competitive team
-
Great way to introduce dogs to racing
#2 Race Team Goals
- Race
consistently under 28 seconds
- Lots
of experience for newer dogs
#2 Race Team Requirements
- Must
be able to run the full course consistently with 2 lanes
- Must
be able to pass dogs, be passed – not as tight as #1 team
- Must
be under control before and after the dog runs
Once the #1 race team is determined, the remaining dogs will be able to fill
team #2. This team will change lineups to allow every dog as much race time as
possible.
