Riley woofer

Riley now has his own web page too!! (July 2000).  Click HERE to check out the rapidly aging Riley Dawg.

Riley Dawg, pictured at left, was "rescued" from the Humane Society in Bellevue, WA. We believe Riley is a Border Collie and German Shepherd mix. We're sure he's at least 100% attitude. Lynn was used to Golden Retriever-soft-doggie-types; Riley has posed quite the challenge. Give him an inch and he wants to be Alpha Dog (guess who does NOT sleep on the human bed!). With Riley it's a constant power struggle to be top dog. By some miracle, we're coming up on our 6 year anniversary in August of 2002.  Wow.

We highly recommend that anyone looking for a dog very carefully weigh the pro's and con's of the breed they are considering. If you are willing to get up every morning at 5:30 am, run 3 miles, and have your dog want at least 5 miles more, a dog like Riley may be for you. If not, you'd be best considering a less energetic breed, like a pug! However, if you do like to rollerblade, run a lot, hike a lot, and want a beast who can keep pace with you on an 8-12 mile mountain bike ride, Riley Dawgs are wonderful.

If you are having problems with a Riley Dawg, please mail us and we can tell you about a very negative experience we had at a certain dog training facility in WA (he almost died). Riley Dawgs need firm, fair, consistent training. They should never be abused.

Jade now has her own web page!  Click HERE
Jade (pictured left) loves balls. In fact, it's rumored that all she ever thinks about is balls. Well, apart from when she's digging a nice large hole to lie in and there are no balls in sight. Jade's latest obsession is Flyball. More than 4 years ago she took part in her first "public" appearance at the opening of the Redmond Center shopping mall. The demonstration was by the Puget Sound Flyers and organised by Gayle Hickey. All proceeds were donated to the Seattle Pure Dog Rescue. Since then, our little super star has participated in several demos and competed in a few tournaments with the Puget Hounds.

The most amazing thing about Jade is her memory. She is an absolute pest when it comes to toys - always poking and prodding at you with one in hopes that you just might feel the urge to throw it for her. In our house (in an attempt to maintain our sanity), all the toys "go to sleep" at 9:30PM. No matter where we hide the toy, Jade remembers where we put it (night stand drawer, on top of the book case, etc.., ) Until the toy has been rescued, she will fixate on the spot every time there is a human in the room to notice her.

This is Dallas, our sweet boy. He loves to follow Jade around and wants to be just like her when he grows up.

Dallas was abandoned at a dog pound with severe head injuries. Kim with WA Border Collie Rescue was able to bail him out (after waiting for his owners to claim him for more than a week!) and get him the medical care he so desperately needed.  Back then, Dallas was named "Roy".

While Lynn and I were fostering Dallas, his first placement fell through and he decided to keep us ;-)  Dallas has completed courses in Agility 1 and Obedience 2. He is a very smart pup who wants desperately to please. Dallas is now a start dog for the Puget Hounds.   He loves it so much he ate through his leash in 2 minutes flat while Lynn ball-loaded and he was supposed to be taking a break.
